Welcome Home, USS Nimitz!

After nine months and 80,000 plus nautical miles, the USS Nimitz (68) arrived back home in Everett, WA today.  This is the first time, I truly remember living here with an aircraft carrier in port.  If it happened before, that was way back in 1994 and back then the USS Abraham Lincoln (72) was here.

It was fun to look out the window and see her back in Port Gardner Bay.  My heart goes out to those families who have been separated from their loved ones for so long.  I hope they enjoy the next few months with their sailors!

The weather played along as the day went on and provided a really lovely sunset this evening including beautiful colors and a full view of the Olympic Mountains.

First sunset home after a long voyage.

More sunset photographs from this evening can be found on my other blog, EverettSunsets.com.  Cheers!
