A human lifespan, a cat’s lifespan

Here’s what caught me tonight. As I listened to my current female cat, Gatita, growl at Boomer, our very recent addition male cat, I realized that I’ve seen this before. Bitches did the same thing to Johan. They adjusted. All was mostly well.

Of course, Gatita wasn’t around to see that. Gatita, before Boomer, was the latest addition to our kitty family.

In my former life, I remember Speck being unhappy that a little orange cat named Butterscotch joined our household for a day. Sadly, cute Butterscotch went back to the veterinarian and happily was adopted by our neighbors across the street in RavennaLeaf. And, so it goes.

I know that we’ll make it through this adjustment period.

What made me cry was the realization that I will likely outlive them all. So much love is given to these little fur balls, and I will lose them all.

And yet, I will keep loving them dearly, and I’ll be sad when they go.

Hope you have a furry friend to love.

Gatita, Johan, and Bitches
