I’ve been down with the flu this week and have had lots of time to be at home, but you know, really at home. I haven’t done any of my usually planned activities, some work, but very little; no volunteering; no massage (so sad!); and I even missed Blue Man Group with my husband and his parents, and a dinner with friends in B’ham.
I’ve just tried to get well.
And, let me tell you, it’s a full time job. It’s hard to not do. For me, at least. You?

I’ve strained my neck sleeping on the couch. I’ve drunk a lot of tea and apple juice. I’ve still got a lingering cough. At least I’m fever and sore throat free!
One constant over the week is my taking photos of the sunsets. And, it’s been lovely this week. It certainly would have been a great week to feign an illness. I have not been so lucky, nor that bold. Being sick sucks.
However, I have been reading a book recommended by my husband who works with people with ALS. It’s called “How to Be Sick — A Buddhist Inspired Guide for the Chronically Ill and their Caregivers” by Toni Bernhard. It’s been soothing. It helped me to accept that being sick this week just, well, is. And beyond that, that my body may be sick, but I am not sick.
And since I’ll be out of town next week for a Cool Works gathering / work trip with the team, I had to document my sweet gatos today. If you have to be sick, be sure to live with some cats that sleep on you and purr on your behalf.
