My New Toy - Canon S90

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

I received two Christmas gifts from my wonderful husband and both are photography related.  The first gift was the DVD series for The National Parks: America’s Best Idea, which I previously blogged about and which features some amazing historical and gorgeous photography.  The second gift was the latest PowerShot from Canon, the S90.  I’ve been waiting for this camera to come out ever since my S60 breathed its last breath.  Hands down the best features of this camera for me are its purse/pocket carrying size and its ability to shoot RAW.

My first picture:

And, I’m sure it’s not surprising that the cats were documented shortly thereafter. ;)

The Bud

(Photographer’s Note: Not quite sure why it turned out so red, but in a way it’s cool.  He’s glowing!  This was only image number #26 and I figure they’re all test photos at this point.)

So I’m grateful for my new toy.  I often think of Chase Jarvis‘ book titled The Best Camera Is The One That’s With You.  I doubt I’ll be leaving home without my S90 for the foreseeable future.

I’m pleased to share that an image of mine, from a fun night’s day at the National Park Inn in Mt. Rainier National Park, has been featured on the website Rooms With Great Views.

You can see my entry here.

And here is the image I submitted.

Thanks to Richard at Mt. Rainier for getting us the room.  He’s my HR chum from many a SHRA conference.
