Kari Quaas' photography habit, as she affectionately calls it, began when she was about nine years old and she received her very own Kodak 110 camera. That camera went with her on trips to Yellowstone, many family parties and it was used to take an inordinate amount of pictures of the cats she grew up alongside. In high school, she continued her habit by taking Photography and Yearbook to expand her experience.  After years of being told she had a "great eye," she decided to get serious and enrolled in the UW Extension Certificate Program in Photography in 2006 to further her education and learn where her habit could take her. As she expected, it prepared her to make this habit/hobby into a business and Kari Quaas Photography is the result.

Now she has graduated to bigger and better cameras and still finds that her fascination with photography continues as well as her love of photographing her cats.  In the fall of 2008, she opened her first solo fine art photography show called Zero to 255 in Seattle, but her real passion is to capture the personalities of animals and people. Her love and respect of animals, and especially cats, helps her to bond quickly to them and that trust yields wonderful photographs.  Her talent also shines when she photographs small family events catching the moments that will be remembered fondly for many years to come.

In 2009, she created a series of photographs called The Elements, which were displayed at A Gathering Grove in Everett, Washington.
